Do you still believe in God

avidbiblereader: I'm glad I came back to this thread. You totally misunderstood my meaning when I said "My plan this morning was to read a few posts while having breakfast. I'll remember not to do that again." It had nothing to do with this thread. It was just a joke because whenever I say to myself that I will only stay for a short period it's always longer than I intended. But I can now see that someone could misunderstand and think that I was offended with this thread.
I have never been a witness. Sorry for the confusion.

I haven't read the responses but Flying-High's caught my eye. At times I feel the same way. I continue to believe in God but sometimes wonder if He believes in me.
In the Count of Monte Cristo there is a scene where Dantes, imprisoned with a priest, says that he no longer believed in God, and the priest saying ah, but He still believes in you. I so needed to hear that at that particular moment.

JW's have been around since Adam and Eve???!!!
by tribalgirl ini was wondering if this was being taught in the congregations.
my sister who is still a jw told me this the other day when i said that the wtbts has only been around for a short time, relatively speaking.. my mother, who hasn't been to a meeting in years, agrees with her.
what is being taught now with regards to this, does anyone know?

When my parents first became witnesses back in the early 70's someone came to our house to convince me of their truth. When I questioned the history of the org he told me that it started with Abel. The NWT in the section Bible Topics for Discussion on page 1652 under Jehovah Witnesses says Origins of Jehovahs Witnesses: Line of faithful witnesses began with Abel.

When I posted this thread it was not as a condemnation against Islam. It was a condemnation against barbarians abusing innocent children. It wouldn't matter if they were Islamic or Christians, or any other religious or non-religious groups.
I’m outraged and deeply saddened, as I’m sure all are who saw the video. The link to the video I gave, I assume, was fairly tame compared to others that I wouldn’t even open to watch.
For people to say this is an act done solely by religious zealots or fanatics is incorrect. The problem isn't with faith, it's with the faithful, with the people. And it isn’t a problem with just the religious. Look at the atheistic/communist countries. If someone doesn’t want to be a hypocrite, then we need to look in our own backyards, at our own belief systems or lack-of belief systems.
I can understand somewhat if people are outraged by this and asking why God isn’t doing anything about it. But that would make humans more emphatic and more morally indignant than God and I don’t believe that to be true. What I don’t understand is, if someone doesn’t believe in God than how do you account for people doing this against another human being. You can’t blame God, because he doesn’t exist, so then religion doesn’t exist except in people's own minds, so you end up with people themselves solely responsible for these atrocities. Take away the religions and you will still have people brutalizing other people.
Since time began people have brutally murdered, tortured, and enslaved people. My feeling is, if evolution is true, then how come we haven’t evolved to the point of eradicating this evil or hateful gene, to becoming superior human beings, with greater intellect, with more compassion? We are still where we started. Or will it take another millions of years for us to mutate to become better humans?
I want to clarify, I’m not angry with anybody on this board that has differing views from mine. It’s the brutality of one human towards another I'm angry with. In a worldly, horizontal way I do believe that most people are, for the most part, decent human beings, who hurt each other, but who don’t brutalize others. But I do have to question their views on man’s evolution. The way I see it, if evolution is correct, (and not for one moment do I believe it to be true) then there is no hope for mankind.

WARNING: Some sites you will find are extremely graphic. I couldn't go to them. I came across this site this morning looking for a christian artist. I'm beside myself with grief for these children. Pictures speak for themselves. How can one view these and take it out of context. These children are being abused. I realize, or hope, that this is just a small segment of their society.

It's almost lunch time so getting very hungry. So many foods I love. Greek, Italian, German, Vietnamese (the best I ever had was in Houston Texas) Mexican (the best was at Milly's in Texas, can't remember exactly where, but near Houston) the best Japanese was in Acapulco many years ago.
just a few: a good roast beef, cauliflower with white (bechamel) sauce with a bit of nutmeg and roast potatoes. Linguine with Pesto, Chicken and Shrimp and a glass of white wine, manicotti with ricotta and spinach, mousakka, chicken or pork souvlaki, chicken fahitas.
Pork chops with apple sauce and red cabbage
I'm the only one that likes that. Once a year I make the above or sourkraut with sausage and fried potatoes for me. Speaking of German food, does anyone have a recipe for hot potato salad?
Talking about European food, when I was little we used to eat eel. My mother would go to the market to buy them. They were kept live in barrels, so gross. I would never eat them now. My mother said I loved salted herring with raw onions. Strange child.

A few days ago I listened to this piece on a classical station. I was so moved by it, very Jewish and melancholy. I don't remember hearing it before as I have stayed clear of the movie Schindlers List, not sure if I could handle it. So I looked up some messianic music and found these. Hope you enjoy them.
